The Buffalo Sabres announced the team is holding a game-worn jersey auction running on auction.NHL.com. The auction will go until 9 p.m. Sunday, March 12. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation.

Members of the Lions Club will visit Island classrooms to conduct free eye testing. Members of the club made a presentation to the Grand Island Board of Education at the board's regular meeting Monday and told the board they will visit Kaegebein, Sidway, and Huth Road elementary schools next week to do vision screening.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Thursday announced a $460 million project to upgrade the Lewiston Pump-Generating Plant has officially reached the halfway mark. The multiyear plant modernization project allows the New York Power Authority to continue to provide low-cost power to businesses in the region, generating nearly $33 billion in capital investments to the state's economy.
