The National Football League, Comcast NBCUniversal and Mayo Clinic have opened the submission process for "1st and Future," the NFL's annual Super Bowl start-up competition designed to spur novel advancements in athlete safety and performance. "1st and Future" will be held at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on Feb. 3, 2018, the day before Super Bowl LII.

On Tuesday night, North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur Pappas announced the next round of Hometown Heroes banners to be revealed in the city. The banners are now open to all veterans and not just active duty members. This year the American Legion Sikora Post 1322 recognized MM2 Stephen Sikora, U.S. Navy; Sgt. John Lukasik, U.S. Army Corps; and PFC Stanley Maziarz, U.S. Army.

Cuomo's Regional Council initiative, the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council (WNYREDC) was awarded $68.8 million for 112 projects that build on the region's assets to invest in the future. Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Warner Horizon announced Wednesday that singer/songwriter Bebe Rexha will open "A Christmas Story Live!" with a performance of the new song "Count on Christmas." The song was written specifically for the live musical event by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Tony Award winners for the musical "Dear Evan Hansen," and lyricists of "La La Land's" Academy Award-winning song, "City of Stars." Pasek and Paul also composed "A Christmas Story: The Musical."
