The Town of Grand Island will take part in a Solarize Campaign, a program that will make investing in solar power easier and more affordable for local residents and businesses. Project leader Councilwoman Bev Kinney and vice leader Councilwoman Jennifer Baney have put together a team of community leaders to spearhead the campaign.

On Saturday, May 12, the Niagara County Central Rotary will host its annual pancake breakfast in the Niagara-Wheatfield High School cafeteria. On Saturday, May 5, the organization will host its annual "Walk for Niagara" at Whirlpool State Park in Niagara Falls. The event helps to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit organization's crisis and community service programs that provide clothing, food, shelter and other services to those in need.

The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) announced it will conduct a series of free naloxone training sessions to be held across the state. The trainings are supported by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. During the sessions, participants will learn how to recognize, respond to, and reverse an opioid overdose using naloxone.
