Former Town of Lewiston Clerk Carol Brandon dies

Carol J. Brandon of Lewiston passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
She was born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, on Dec. 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie (Sherman) Brandon. Brandon graduated Niagara Falls High School in 1954.
She served as deputy town clerk of Lewiston from 1973-83 and then became the town clerk in 1998 - a position she held until her retirement in 2013. Brandon also was the special projects coordinator for Assemblyman Joseph Pillittere from 1986-98. 
She served as the first woman president of the Lewiston All Sports Boosters Club, and was also a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader. Brandon was a former member of the Niagara County Clerks Association - where she was a past president - and the New York State Town Clerks Association.
Brandon was a member of the board of directors of the St. Francis Guild and volunteered at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston pre-K day care.
Carol was the wife of Robert A. Linn and the late Walter Pokrzyk; beloved mother of Karen Ballistrea, Kathy (Dennis) Winkler, Robert Pokrzyk, Steven (Stacie) Pokrzyk and the late Suzanne Pokrzyk; stepmother of Robin (Kenneth) Dressel, Jennifer (Douglas) Godown and Janis Linn; dear grandmother of Richard, Amanda, Michael, Deanne, Katelyn, Alexandra, Gabriella, Amanda, Andrew, Brittany, Kaytelyn, McKenna, Micah, John, Marc and Joel. She has five great-grandchildren and is the dear sister of Gloria Donovan and Gary Brandon. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Daisy.
Services were held Wednesday and Thursday at the Rhoney Funeral Home in Lewiston, while a Christian Mass is scheduled for Friday at St. Peter's R.C. Church. The Rev. Monsignor David G. LiPuma will officiate.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in Carol's name to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Dolgeville, c/o Kathy Winkler, 412 Military Road, Dolgeville, NY 13329.
Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
