The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. board of directors met and approved three contracts that will move projects forward on Buffalo's Outer Harbor. The contracts will provide for the architectural and engineering design for projects emphasizing recreation in three unique waterfront zones: First Buffalo River Marina; the vast acreage between Wilkeson Pointe and Bell Slip; and Terminal B.

David Leonard, formerly one-half of the Grammy Award-nominated duo All Sons & Daughters and a former touring member of acclaimed band NEEDTOBREATHE, released his solo debut, "The Wait," earlier this year - and to much praise. On Aug. 30, Leonard will release "The Wait: Silence The Noise," a collection of "The Wait" songs newly recorded where the lyrics become the focus. Preparation for the rehabilitation of Baseline Road on Grand Island has commenced, starting with a total shoulder reconstruction to help alleviate previous drainage issues that existed on the two-and-a-half-mile stretch being repaired by Erie County this year. According to Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick, who represents Grand Island in the Erie County Legislature, the portion from Whitehaven to East River will require decreased speed and additional caution while the work takes place.

WNED | WBFO and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra announced the 2020 JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition will be June 3-6, 2020. Renowned concert guitarists Joanne Castellani and Michael Andriaccio will return as artistic directors. Judges for the 2020 competition include Castellani and Andriaccio, along with guitar masters Roberto Aussel, Rene Izquierdo, Martha Masters, Judicael Perroy and Raphaella Smits.
