Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the selection of SHoP Architects as the lead designer of the Brockport Loop Pedestrian Bridge over the Erie Canal. Originally announced as part of the governor's State of the State address in January 2020, this new pedestrian bridge in the Village of Brockport represents the first large-scale infrastructure project to begin under the state's "Reimagine the Canals" initiative.

The Rotary Club of Niagara County Central annually donates dictionaries to third grade students in the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District. Rotarian, the late Joseph B. Emmons, began this project locally in 2006. His wife, Rotarian Marsha Emmons, proudly continues his worthwhile endeavor to bring these keepsakes of written knowledge to the students.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo reminded insured New Yorkers they should not be charged for personal protective equipment by in-network health care providers under their state-regulated health and dental insurance coverage. Pursuant to State Department of Financial Services guidance, insurers are required to make sure consumers are not charged PPE-related fees by in-network providers.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn on Thursday announced 35-year-old Robert L. Shoemaker of Grand Island was virtually sentenced that afternoon by Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes to a determinate sentence of three-and-a-half years in prison followed by two-and-a-half years of post-release supervision.

Lewiston Town Board members began the process Monday of getting the town's now-paused recreational programs restarted for 2021. Included was approval for Recreation Director Mike Dashineau to fill a part-time recreation clerk/typist position currently unfilled, and to begin planning for the town's youth baseball and softball programs, as well as the anticipated hiring of a recreational leader and rec program aides.

The City of North Tonawanda is looking to move forward with a tax anticipation note (TAN) - a short-term bond issued by a municipal government that will be repaid with future tax collections. Attorney General Letitia James on Thursday released a report on her office's ongoing investigations into nursing homes' responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, James has been investigating nursing homes throughout New York state based on allegations of patient neglect and other concerning conduct that may have jeopardized the health and safety of residents and employees.
