Two consecutive summers where large gatherings were frowned upon, if not prohibited, made it impossible for Kingdom Bound Ministries to hold its annual four-day festival at Darien Lake. But with all COVID-19 restrictions lifted, and concert and event attendance rising - particularly outdoors - Kingdom Bound is a full-go, this weekend, for the first time since 2019.

The Niagara County Department of Health will offer free COVID-19 vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older at upcoming clinics. Children ages 6 months to 4 years old may receive the Pfizer vaccine, while children ages 6 months to 5 years old can receive the Moderna vaccine.

(USAN) subsidiary, and the City of Niagara Falls held a virtual information session Wednesday and announced program components and next steps for the Niagara Falls Strategic Economic Development Initiative. The $40 million plan is intended to spur targeted investment throughout city business districts along Niagara Street, Main Street, Portage Road and Pine Avenue.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Niagara County announced its recent enrollment in the Niagara County "Thank A Vet" program. CCE Niagara will offer free admission to the Niagara County Fair on Sunday, Aug. 7, to any current member of the military, or veteran, as part of the "Thank A Vet" program. First responders will also be admitted to the fair for free that day.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the portal is now open to apply for $30 million in additional federal grant funding to expand existing child care programs in areas of the state without sufficient child care slots, known as child care deserts. The funds, which are part of the $100 million child care desert initiative approved in the fiscal year 2022 enacted budget, are being made available through the American Rescue Plan Act and will be administered by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced new COVID-19 preparedness initiatives to protect public health and support New York state's ongoing response to the pandemic.
