In this day and age, cancer has affected too many loved ones too often. The American Cancer Society is an organization that realizes this and is doing something about it. The local chapter of their Relay For Life was a great success this past Saturday on the fields of Lewiston-Porter High School.

Winter is, officially, over. About 7,000 fans came out to Artpark this week for the first "Tuesday in the Park" of the season. War headlined, and Then and Now opened the show.

Week two of the "First Niagara presents Tuesday in the Park" free outdoor concert series at Artpark's outdoor amphitheater will present the best of blues on June 22 with Jimmie Vaughan & The Tilt-A-Whirl Band. The mini blues fest starts at 6:30 p.m. with Buffalo's own Blues Remedy opening the night.

The Circle of Hope program of Niagara Hospice will hold its 10th Camp Hope for grieving children Aug. 27-29 at the YMCA's Camp Kenan in Barker. Offered to children throughout Western New York who have lost a loved one through death - regardless of hospice care - the camp is free for children ages 7 to 13.

Developer Richard Hastings plans to move forward with his proposal to build condominiums around the Frontier House for baby-boomers and seniors. He met Tuesday with Lewiston retailers to describe his project, which was approved in March 2008 by both the Planning and Zoning boards but held up via court proceedings initiated by PSR Press.

A total of 100 cars signed in for competition June 4 at Ransomville Speedway. Mother Nature proved not to be a friend as light showers hit the area just as the hot lap session came to a close. Big R management forged on, and was able to complete the entire racing program in less than two-and-a-half hours amidst on and off moisture.
