Qualifying private and public landowners may apply for a free bag of 25 tree and shrub seedlings for planting near streams, rivers or lakes to help stabilize banks, protect water quality, combat climate change, and improve wildlife habitat.

GuildCare specializes in services for veterans and individuals with vision loss who are 18 years of age and older and have been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition, and those who require hands-on assistance.

Before 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, the Niagara Falls Fire Department and New York State Park Police responded to a call for two people possibly in the Niagara Gorge, between Terrapin Point and the Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls State Park. Upon arrival, they were advised two people climbed over a railing and fell from the edge.

The 39th annual St. Patrick's Day celebration, presented by the Niagara Falls Ancient Order of Hibernians, will take place Friday, March 17. The area's largest St. Patrick's Day party - and 131st birthday celebration of Niagara Falls - will kick off with the "World's Shortest Parade" at 4:45 p.m. from the corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Old Falls Street. Family-friendly festivities will continue until 11 p.m. inside the Niagara Falls Convention Center at 101 Old Falls St.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday announced that state and local law enforcement agencies throughout New York will be stepping up patrols and targeting impaired driving over the Super Bowl weekend. The enforcement campaign will run from Friday, Feb. 10, through Monday, Feb. 13. This safety initiative is designed to reduce alcohol and drug-related traffic crashes. It is sponsored by STOP-DWI with funding from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee.

February may be the shortest month of the year, but there's no shortage of reasons to celebrate. Beginning with a month-long observance of Black history to a holiday dedicated to love, colorful Mardi-Gras floats, and a Super Bowl we sadly weren't a part of this year, there's an occasion to gather friends and family for. It's nice to have things to look forward to in what feels like the coldest time of the year and according to Punxsutawney Phil, we're in for an extended winter.

Flynn announces an 18-year-old male from Buffalo pleaded guilty this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, a designated Youth Part judge, to one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and one count of assault in the second degree.
