James Andrew “Jim” Mullany was born on Oct. 17, 1960, to Harry Slaven Mullany II and Patricia Mary Harrington, and raised on Grand Island.
He attended Arizona State University for a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, and the University of Phoenix for his MBA. Mullany joined the Otis Elevator Company in 1984 and built his career there for nearly 40 years.
In 1988, he married Aurora “Myra” Climaco. They had two sons: Harrington Mullany and Harrison James Mullany.
The best word to describe Jim is “fun.” He enjoyed spending time with his family, eating good food, listening to music, going to concerts, and the watching the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres and the San Diego Padres, whether he was at home in Escondido or visiting Buffalo.
Jim loved being a part of his sons’ extracurricular activities. He was present for every practice and game, whether it was their Little League, travel baseball or basketball. He was a devoted husband and father, and was always wise, witty and personable.
James passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2023. He will be remembered as a man who loved his life and family and always enjoyed the company of his friends.
He is survived by his wife; two sons; siblings: Colleen, Mike, Jackie and Kelly; and reunited with his parents and sister Dianne.
