This morning just got a bit less cloudy, thanks to Beck’s bittersweet new standalone single, “Thinking About You.”
The first new original Beck song to be released since his universally acclaimed, Grammy-winning “Hyperspace” album, “Thinking About You” is a sublime dose of undiluted elemental Beck. A heart-tugging ballad in the tradition of classics “Morning Phase” and “Sea Change” – and incidentally recorded in the very same room as the latter – “Thinking About You” finds Beck’s wistful vocal and acoustic guitar tones accompanied by Blake Mills (guitar, mandolin), Justin Meldal Johnsen (bass) and Roger Manning (keyboards).
“Thinking About You” drops on the eve of a busy touring year for Beck. His upcoming 2023 live calendar begins with a trio of stripped-down acoustic performances in Australia, includes appearances at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday shows at the Hollywood Bowl, and the High Water Festival in North Charleston, South Carolina. It’s rounded out by his anticipated North American co-headline tour with Phoenix. That tour visits the Budweiser Stage in Toronto on Sept. 3, with guests Weyes Blood and Sir Chloe
