The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees unanimously approved the fiscal year 2020-21 budget on Monday. Residents will see an 8-cent increase in their property taxes, with a fee of $7.65 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. That equates to $12 more for a homeowner with a $150,000 property.

M&T Bank and KeyBank, in partnership with the First Niagara Foundation, have teamed up with Pegula Sports & Entertainment in its direct community aid initiative. PSE began the initiative March 25 in partnership with the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Foundations. By calling 716-218-1419 between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., one can reach a Catholic Charities staff member about mental health and substance abuse counseling, make arrangements to obtain food from one of the organization's nine food pantries, or seek assistance with housing, utilities or other related basic living needs.

Personnel from Upper Mountain Fire Co., Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1, Youngstown Fire Co., Tri Community Ambulance, Ransomville Fire Co., Cambria Fire Co., Lewiston Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriff's Department held an "Appreciation Parade" Saturday evening for Mount St. Mary's health care workers. Lights were flashing with cheers and sirens sounding for hospital staff as the procession moved through the main parking lot as a sign of gratitude for those keeping the community safe and healthy.
