Maziarz announces road and bridge project for Western Niagara County moving forward

State Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, a member of the Senate's transportation committee, today announced a nearly $8 million investment for a key highway construction project in western Niagara County.

Despite a 33-minute weather delay that pushed kickoff past 9 p.m., last night's "NFL Kickoff" on NBC was watched by 25.1 million viewers - up 5 percent from last year's opening-game and ranking as the third-most watched "NFL Kickoff" game in the 12-year history of the event, according to official national data released today by The Nielsen Company.

State Sen. Mark J. Grisanti, R-I-Buffalo, announced today a $9.48 million investment for road and bridge projects for Elmwood Avenue and the 198 in the City of Buffalo. The investment will be funded through the New York Works State Highway and Bridge Project Acceleration Program.

Jacobs launches pen donation/advertising initiative, says it will promote local businesses while saving county money

"Each year nearly 10,000 pens 'walk-out the doors' of our Auto Bureaus, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars," said Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs. "I found it frustrating to spend so much taxpayer money for pens, so we looked for a creative solution to offset the cost."

Jacobs' creative solution is to partner with local businesses who frequently advertise through having pens with their logos on them. "These businesses actually want folks to take their pens so we thought it was a perfect marriage," he said.
