Local CROP team undergoes training

Grand Island CROP Walk Oct. 13

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, more than a dozen people underwent training for the 2013 CROP Walk in preparation for this year's event on Oct. 13. Leading the event was be Amy Bobbette from Syracuse, the new leader of this region's CROP Walks. New and veteran walkers alike heard Bobbette give a PowerPoint presentation about her experiences with Church World Service in Central America.

Bobbette is pictured in the back row, third from the left, next to Grand Island CROP Walk coordinator Paul Robinson.

The first Grand Island CROP Walk was held in 1987 and raised $864. Last year's event raised $5,798.28. In total, the CROP Walk on the Island has raised $93,493.51.
