Niagara County clerk: Federal government delaying enforcement of REAL ID requirements for 2 more years

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski on Tuesday said the federal Department of Homeland Security is delaying enforcement of REAL ID requirements by 24 months, from May 3, 2023, to May 7, 2025. At that time, one will need a REAL ID to board any domestic flights, enter a military base and access certain federal facilities.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday signed legislation to crack down on unwanted telemarketing calls. Legislation S.8450-B/A.8319-C requires telemarketers to give customers the option to be added to the company's do-not-call list at the outset of certain telemarketing calls. The new legislation is designed to help safeguard New Yorkers from continuous unwanted calls.
Hochul signs legislation to ensure eligible votes are counted

Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed legislation to protect New Yorkers' right to vote and improve the voting process. Legislation (S.284C/A.642C) requires the counting and canvassing of affidavit ballots cast by eligible voters who appear at the wrong polling place, as long as they are voting in the correct county and assembly district.

Village of Lewiston trustees seek uniformity with 'sandwich boards'

They relaxed municipal laws pertaining to A-frame posts at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and have continued to permit the markers - particularly noting the need to direct people to slightly off-Center Street retailers Sgt. Peppers Hot Sauces and Brewed and Bottled Craft Beer Shop.

Town of Grand Island budget: Interest rate spike driving factor behind tax cap override
