The Niagara County Department of Social Services program integrity unit, working with the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and the district attorney's office, announced they have saved the taxpayers of Niagara County $3,889,542 as a result of various cost-avoidance measures.

American workers took an average of 17.2 days of vacation in 2017, according to new research from Project: Time Off, jumping up nearly a half-day (.4 days) from 2016. This marks the highest level for American vacation usage since 2010 (17.5 days) and a more than full-day increase since bottoming out at 16.0 days in 2014.

The New York State Senate has passed legislation (S.7372B) to expand the types of educational settings required to report child abuse and increases the professions required to receive training to identify and report abuse. The New York State Canal Corporation and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced the groundbreaking of new construction on a 2.1-mile stretch of the Erie Canalway Trail in Niagara County and a five-mile section in the Mohawk Valley. When completed, the trails will be major cornerstones toward finishing Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Empire State Trail project.
