CBS to spearhead first-ever 'Reality Mud Run' to benefit 'Survivor' Stand Up 2 Cancer

CBS is sponsoring its first-ever "Reality Mud Run," in which reality stars from CBS's hit series "Survivor," "The Amazing Race" and "Big Brother" will run alongside members of the general public to raise funds for cancer research through "Survivor's" Stand Up To Cancer fundraising team.
Redcoats and Continentals do battle at Old Fort Niagara

On Aug. 13 and 14, British redcoats will square off with American continental soldiers as Old Fort Niagara hosts its annual "Soldiers of the Revolution" event. Weekend activities include two battle re-enactments, interactive games for families, demonstrations of muskets and muzzle-loading artillery, military music, and historical drama.

Ratner and Mischer to produce 84th Academy Awards

Brett Ratner and Don Mischer will produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced Thursday. This will be Ratner's first involvement with the Oscar show; Mischer will for the second year in a row serve as a producer and as the telecast director.

On Saturday, July 23, the Niagara River Anglers Association held its annual Lower Niagara Bass Contest with Brendan Walsh, Niagara Falls, taking top honors with his two-fish total weight of 9.32 pounds. His largest weighed in at 4.74 pounds, and that was good enough to get the big fish of the day Lunker Award, topping all others.

Early morning showers gave way to clear blue skies Friday evening, July 29, in the small hamlet of Ransomville. Mother Nature certainly helped the Ransomville Speedway maintenance crew provide a very racy and tacky track surface. Plenty of side-by-side racing entertained fans in the grandstands and VIP towers.
