Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, and Niagara County Legislator Renae Kimble (2nd District) are holding a press conference today at the Niagara Power Vista, located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston. They will discuss NYPA's latest rate increases, and what they deem to be the negative impacts these increases will have on local residents and businesses. The pair also intends to emphasize the urgent need for local representation on the NYPA board of trustees.

Wheatfield residents set record at medicine disposal day

The Niagara County Refuse Disposal District's medicine drop-off day on Saturday in the Town of Wheatfield drew this year's highest volume for any such event. Residents got rid of old prescriptions in droves - 57 5-gallon containers totaling more than 588 pounds of pills, which have an estimated illegal street value of more than $1 million, were safely removed from medicine cabinets.

NBC News announces Meredith Vieira has been named to a new role as special correspondent for "Rock Center with Brian Williams," the new primetime newsmagazine led by Brian Williams. She will contribute her signature reporting for the broadcast, as well as report for "Today," "NBC Nightly News" and other NBC News programs. Vieira will additionally contribute to special network programming, including the 2012 London Olympic Games.

NBC announced today that Emmy-nominated talk show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" will pack up and travel to the Midwest for sports' biggest event of the year, Super Bowl XLVI. In its regular 12:35 a.m. time slot, "Late Night" will air from Indianapolis Wednesday, Feb. 1, Thursday, Feb. 2, and Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
