There's only a few days left in 2018, but looking back ... what a year it has been for Niagara-Wheatfield athletics. 2018 saw a majority of Falcons sports teams accomplish winning records, some of which included Niagara Frontier League and Section VI championships. Some teams and individuals were even fortunate enough to reach the state finals.
Starpoint Regan Intermediate School makes holidays bright for local families

Anyone would agree that no child should go without at the holidays. The children at Starpoint's Regan Intermediate School pitched in to make sure that didn't happen for some local residents. The teachers felt it was an important lesson for the students to learn that the holidays should be focused on giving rather than receiving.  The students and their families opened up their hearts and the wallets to make the holiday season special for many less fortunate families. 
Niagara-Wheatfield CSD offers free pre-K program

The Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District recently received word it was tentatively awarded a grant from the New York State Education Department for pre-kindergarten. The district will begin the program starting Jan. 22, 2019.

2018 was an interesting year. Residents in the Town of Wheatfield, Town of Niagara and City of North Tonawanda all saw their municipality change in some type of way, but now that 2018 is soon turning into 2019, it's time to start fresh.

NU Family Business Center marks anniversary

The Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) urges everyone to exercise caution and keep fire safety in mind when decorating for the holidays. When holiday lights and other decorations are not used properly, they can cause fires, injuries and even death.
'Coffee with Chris' continues for 2019

Niagara Falls City Councilman Chris Voccio has scheduled his "Coffee with Chris" events for the first five months of 2019. These events will be held at 9 a.m. on the first Saturdays of each month. New York Power Authority reinforces New York's energy transmission system

The New York Power Authority is implementing a wide‑reaching, multiyear transmission life extension and modernization (TLEM) program to replace and refurbish transmission assets at sites across the state. The $726 million program, which encompasses the switchyards, substations, transmission line structures and hardware, submarine cables and rights of way that comprise NYPA's transmission system, began in 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in 2025.

Western New York REDC awarded $66 million for 118 projects
