Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a four-point plan to reduce sexual violence in educational institutions as part of the state's 2021 Women's Agenda. As part of this plan, the governor has directed SUNY and the state's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence - a newly reimagined agency proposed by the governor in his 2021 State of the State - to establish an innovative hub to develop enforceable policies, trainings and outreach programs to combat and end sexual violence on college campuses.
UB Arts Collaboratory launches new incubator in downtown Buffalo

The University at Buffalo Arts Collaboratory will launch a pioneering new incubator for artists across all disciplines on Feb. 27. The first of three monthlong programs will feature a distinguished visiting faculty member in the department of art, followed by a multidisciplinary program from two nationally recognized local artists, and finally a visit from one of the world's most respected painters, who for the first time in her career will work collaboratively with local artists on a public art piece.
Niagara University receives grant to continue efforts to enhance mental health services in Western New York

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced new, expanded guidelines for visitation of residents in nursing home facilities in accordance with CMS and CDC guidelines to begin Feb. 26. The New York State Department of Health recommends visitors take a rapid test before entry into the facility, and DOH will provide rapid tests to nursing homes to facilitate their ability to test visitors on-site and at no cost.

As the U.S. marked the tragic milestone of 500,000 deaths due to COVID-19, the House of Representatives budget committee took action to advance the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion COVID relief package.
