North Tonawanda foundation announces $500,000 commitment to Buffalo City Mission

On Thursday, the E & W G Foundation, a subsidiary of the East Hill Foundation, announced a $500,000 commitment to support construction for the recuperative care unit in the new Buffalo City Mission Community Center at 100 E. Tupper St. The new unit will be named the East Hill Foundation recuperative care unit, and will be housed on the second floor of the new community center.

The 1965 Huey helicopter is a big thing to miss. It's been gone for about a year now, but no one should be alarmed. The Vietnam era helicopter and its compatriot, the massive tank in front of the Town of Wheatfield Highway Department building, will be back together again at Town Hall on Church Street. It's just a question of when.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487's "Circle of Honor" started to be assembled on Wednesday morning. Patrol cars from the Lewiston Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office escorted stone pillars down Center Street and into Academy Park. Project manager Rocco DelGrosso and his team then began to install the monument pieces.

General Motors Co. on Tuesday confirmed its Tonawanda engine plant will build the company's next-generation 6.2L small-block V-8 engine that will power the all-new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Production of the Corvette Stingray begins at GM's Bowling Green, Kentucky, assembly plant in late 2019.

The USA Niagara Development Corp. board of directors (USAN) met Wednesday and voted to provide NFNY Hotel Management LLC with a $1 million grant for upgrades it made to transform the former Days Inn hotel on Main Street in Niagara Falls into a Wyndham Garden Inn hotel, adding new rooms, remodeling existing rooms and upgrading hotel amenities.
