The Buffalo History Museum will begin the next phase of restoration to the lower level of its National Historic Landmark Building. Work focuses on improving guest amenities, including new restrooms and an HVAC system. At the end of this phase of construction, the museum's lower level will be restored to the original vision of architect George Cary, with an expansive 4,400-square-foot gallery.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced last year it will offer the traditional, on-site make-it, take-it programs as take-it, make-it virtual programs to be held online via Zoom. These one-night workshops include a succulent garden workshop, a terrarium workshop and a mini-garden workshop. Also brand new to the educational programs are botanical demonstrations. These low-cost, one-hour demonstrations will cover orchid repotting, spring floral arrangements and a bonsai demonstration.

The independent Rochester auditing firm of StoneBridge Business Partners has conducted a thorough audit of the policies and protocols of the Diocese of Buffalo with regard to training, reporting and ensuring safe environments for young people according the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' mandated Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. It found the diocese to be in full compliance. The audit covers the period of 2019 to 2020.

Birds on the Niagara (BON21) announced the third annual Birds on the Niagara International Celebration of Winter Birds will be held Feb. 12-14. BON21 is the only international North American bird festival. This year, it is a virtual event with free access, including a special presentation by keynote speaker and author Dr. J. Drew Lanham.

The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area (NFNHA) is uncovering mysteries in Niagara Falls by funding the Oakwood Cemetery Burial Permit Digital Archive Project and the Niagara Falls Public Library Local History Collection Project. It said Niagara Falls is known for its role in the Underground Railroad, but only a few precious artifacts have survived.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston will open Catholic Health's first monoclonal antibiotic therapy clinic for the treatment of COVID-19 beginning the week of Jan. 4. The outpatient clinic is designed for individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 10 days, and are 65 years of age or older or have other chronic medical conditions that could lead to hospitalization.
