The Town of Wheatfield Lions Club will host its seventh annual "Service Club Steak Night" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Five Senses Park, 6535 Ward Road, near the American Legion Post 1451. Attending service clubs, besides the Wheatfield Lions Club, will include the Niagara Wheatfield Kiwanis Club, Niagara County Rotary Club, Town of Niagara Lions Club, Wheatfield Business Association, and the Sanborn Business and Professional Association.

Congressman Brian Higgins and City of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino announced several public safety investments made possible thanks to the more than $57 million in federal funding received by the city through the American Rescue Plan. Niagara Falls has plans to invest over $11.4 million of its American Rescue Plan funding in public safety, including new and improved police and fire equipment.

On Wednesday, just before 2 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a hazardous material incident at the Avantor building in the Town of Wheatfield. The caller reported a spill of approximately 400 gallons of methanol contained inside the building.

The Mental Health Association in Niagara County will host a cornhole fundraiser, "Cornhole for a Cause," from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Davison Road Inn, 383 Davison Road, Lockport. Proceeds from the sales will go toward programming and services for those living with a mental health diagnosis and their families in Niagara County.
