IJC members visit WNY: Impact of high water levels, Plan 2014 discussed

Newly appointed commissioners of the International Joint Commission spent Tuesday in Western New York, learning more about the IJC's Plan 2014 and its shoreline impacts from the high water levels on Lake Ontario in New York state and on the St. Lawrence River system in Canada.

The 14th annual Lewiston GardenFest, presented by the Lewiston Garden Club, is set for Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days along Center Street. It includes more than 80 vendors selling flowers, plants and garden essentials, along with speakers, demonstrations, a free garden walk and a container garden contest throughout the weekend.

Set sail with the Niagara County Community College Alumni Association on the Moondance Catamaran from 3:45-5:30 P.M. Friday, June 21. Guests are asked to meet near "The Hatch" at 329 Erie St. The event is open to NCCC alumni, NCCC employees, and friends of the college. Proceeds will support the NCCC Alumni Association.
Niagara Scenic Parkway roadwork continues

The New York State Department of Transportation on Thursday announced construction is continuing on the project to remove a portion of the Niagara Scenic Parkway (formerly Robert Moses Parkway) in the City of Niagara Falls. As a result, an additional road closure is going into effect.

Catholic Health receives area's top grades in Leapfrog Safety Report

Catholic Health has once again received Western New York's highest cumulative overall score in The Leapfrog Group's spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grade Report, and the only "A" safety grades in Erie and Niagara counties. In the national report released last week, Catholic Health hospitals earned three of only 11 "A" safety grades that were given in all of New York state.
