HAL scholarship commemorates Indigenous Peoples Day

2022 Mason FOREVER Foundation Award winners announced

The Mason FOREVER Foundation awards scholarships honor of Mason Sawyer Monteleone. He was interdisciplinary health science major student at the University of Florida in Tallahassee when he tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21. Monteleone was interested in becoming a physician assistant or an orthopedic surgeon. He graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo and attended middle school at Lewiston-Porter.
NFMMC to host 'on-the-spot' hiring event

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will host an on-the-spot hiring event for registered nurses from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Antonio's Banquet & Conference Center, 7708 Niagara Falls Blvd. Representatives from various departments of the medical center, including intensive care, behavioral health, emergency services, surgery and cardiology, will be on hand to provide information, accept applications, and conduct open interviews.

Domestic violence exhibit on display in Niagara County Courthouse

Niagara County is displaying the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier's domestic violence exhibit in the rotunda of the Niagara County Courthouse now through Oct. 14 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The display features the stories of domestic violence victims - "Voices of a Survivor" - paired with black and white photos - "Visions of Strength."

New York State Commissioner of Education Dr. Betty A. Rosa and members of the New York State Education Department made a visit to the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, specifically to the Tuscarora Indian School. The goal of the stop was to meet with the members of the Tuscarora Council, tour the school, and inspect the beginning of school improvements that have started thanks to monies from New York state totaling $11.8 million.

Higgins, Brown & Restaino announce federal funding for crime-fighting measures in Buffalo & Niagara Falls

Congressman Brian Higgins, along with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino, announced the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls have been awarded close to $300,000 in federal funding combined to be used toward public safety and crime prevention measures. The grants are provided through the U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
