Becker Farms, a 340-acre working fruit and vegetable farm, invites families to its "Trunk or Treat" event to be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, in the parking lot at 3724 Quaker Road, Gasport. A donation of $5 per person grants admission to the grounds; access to all kids' activities, including the playground, mega-slide, corn maze, petting zoo and "trunk or treating"; plus, live music at the farm. New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced applications are open to New York organizations for the FreshConnect CSA for SNAP program. This program will help to give Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants in New York increased access to weekly shares of fresh, locally grown produce through community-supported agriculture (CSA) initiatives by defraying up to half the cost, while also lending additional support to New York's farmers and producers.
