On June 1, 10-year-old Gavin Burns was injured in a lawnmower accident at his home in Lewiston. Mercy Flight took him to Oishei Children's Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors were able to save Gavin's leg, but, unfortunately, they were not able to save his foot, which had to be amputated just above his ankle.

On Friday, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz outlined a package of proposed reforms for the Erie County Water Authority, which was the subject of a recent report from the state Authorities Budget Office (ABO) that formally censured the Erie County Water Authority and outlined numerous problems, including a lack of transparency and accountability in governance and decision-making.
