With special guest Wesley Stace; new album due in fall
This fall, one of Canada's most distinctive, recognizable and powerful tenors, Steven Page, will return to the U.S. for one of his biggest tours in years. Following a string of rip-roaring shows in the U.K. in 2017, Page will bring his trio (rounded out with Craig Northey and Kevin Fox) to the states to circle the continent.
Page is best known for being the co-founder and former lead vocalist/songwriter for multi-Platinum-selling band Barenaked Ladies. The group was recently inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Page will have Wesley Stace as tour support. For more information and on-sale dates, visithttps://www.stevenpage.com/events/.
"After a long seven years, I'm excited to finally do a proper tour of the U.S. again, and this one will be the most extensive of my solo career to date," Page said. "With my friends Craig Northey (Odds) on guitar and Kevin Fox on cello, I'll be playing music from my upcoming album, 'Discipline: Heal Thyself, Pt. II,' as well as lots of songs from my BNL and solo catalogues. I'm also thrilled to be bringing along my friend, Wesley Stace, with whom I did my first American tour back in 1992!"
Page reunited with Barenaked Ladies for their induction into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame at the Juno Awards this March, nearly 30 years since their genesis. Of the induction, Page posted on social media: "I have so many great memories of my years with Barenaked Ladies, from our beginning in our parents' basements to playing our songs for audiences all over the world. I'm incredibly proud of all we achieved together. I'm humbled by our induction into the Hall of Fame."
Since leaving Barenaked Ladies in 2009, Page has continued his artistic evolution with a diverse array of solo projects. He has composed six theatrical scores for Canada's Stratford Festival, including 2016's production of "Macbeth," collaborated and toured with Toronto's innovative Art of Time ensemble, and journeyed across North America as host of TV's "The Illegal Eater," while continuing to write, release and perform his original music. Page is currently working on a Stratford-commissioned musical he's writing with Governor General's Award-winner Daniel MacIvor and a new album of his own original material titled "Discipline: Heal Thyself, Pt. II," which is scheduled for release this year.
