TNT began production this week on its intriguing new original series "Perception," starring Emmy- and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace"). The series about an eccentric neuroscientist who helps solve complex criminal cases also stars Rachael Leigh Cook ("She's All That," "Psych"), Arjay Smith ("The Day After Tomorrow") and Kelly Rowan ("The O.C."). TNT has ordered 10 episodes of "Perception," which will join the network's lineup in summer 2012.

ION Television is set to premiere its newly acquired dramedy series "Psych" and "Monk" beginning Sunday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. ET. Both series will air on ION's successful primetime Saturday and Sunday schedules, with a four-hour block of "Monk" premiering 6-10 p.m. and a five-hour block of "Psych" airing from 10 p.m.-3 a.m. The critically acclaimed series will launch on ION's weekend schedule starting with season one.

NBC's "The Sing-Off," hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Nick Lachey, returns for season three this fall on Monday, Sept.19 (8-10 p.m. ET) in a weekly format featuring two-hour episodes and with the number of groups competing expanded to 16. The groups will perform for celebrity judges Sara Bareilles ("Love Song" and "King of Anything"), Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five) and Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men) and compete for the prize of $200,000 cash and a Sony Music recording contract.

The Lewiston-Porter School Board came to a decision at its Tuesday's session on a proposal that was on the table for three weeks: whether or not to add a mandatory work session each month to the board's regular schedule. Members approved the idea, which was first discussed last year.

George's Appliance chartered "The Black Pearl" sailing ship in the Village of Lewiston on Wednesday to shoot the store's next commercial, titled "The Pirates of the Lakes." The production, one of the store's largest to date, starred George's staff.

Ian Emes of Niagara Falls went home with a nice payday last Saturday by winning the fourth annual Walleye Classic sponsored by Outdoors Niagara and A-1 Bait Supplies. Emes also won the Lunker Award for the biggest fish of the day, weighing in at 10 pounds even.

Another gorgeous night greeted race fans and drivers last Friday, Aug. 12, for a full card of racing at Ransomville Speedway, presented by Tim Hortons and LocalEdge. Some 200 VIP guests filled the Bud Towers and another 2,000 jammed the grandstands for a hot night of racing.
