New York Power Authority fishing piers to open for season

Fishing facilities including the pier at the base of the New York Power Authority's Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant will open for the season on Sunday, April 1, weather permitting. The fish-cleaning station will be available as long as temperatures remain above freezing.
Wegmans launches curbside pickup at Buffalo stores

Wegmans Food Markets, in partnership with Instacart, is now offering curbside grocery pickup at three additional stores in the Buffalo area, joining Wegmans' McKinley store in Blasdell, where curbside pickup has been available since February.

Irwin, will be a featured display when the Buffalo Geological Society hosts its 50th annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show on March 24-25 in the Market, Grange and State Police buildings at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.

The USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) board of directors met Wednesday and approved the acquisition of a property in Niagara Falls with "spectacular" views of the rapids and easy access to downtown and the Niagara Falls State Park. The vacant parcel, at 101 Buffalo Ave., will be purchased for $1,100,000 utilizing Buffalo Billion II funds for the purpose of issuing a request for proposals (RFP) to develop the 1.20-acre site.

The second phase of expansion at Hibbard's Original Frozen Custard was approved Monday by the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees. The Hibbard family was granted a special use permit for a 24-foot-by-13-foot concrete pad and customer queuing area with overhang canopy. This waiting spot will be located directly behind newly enlarged serving windows, which were previously approved.

Jacobs introduces bill improving access to fertility preservation services for cancer patients

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs, R-60th, has introduced legislation that would improve access to fertility preservation services for cancer patients whose treatments may directly or indirectly cause infertility. The bill, S7163, accomplishes this by requiring health insurance policies to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation prior to a patient beginning their recommended cancer treatments.
