On Wednesday, the Buffalo City Mission kicked off its annual turkey drive to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal for impoverished families, the elderly and shut-ins. The City Mission set a goal to collect 2,000 turkeys from now through Monday, Nov. 19.

Their flight, while turbulent, didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. But when they touched down, Michaela and company were informed five years had passed.

Every year, volunteers from the Historical Association of Lewiston meet to wash and put a coat of wax on Lewiston's two large-scale bronze monuments. Last Sunday's weather was perfect and the crew met at the Freedom Crossing and Tuscarora Heroes monuments to perform their magic.

New York State Office of the Attorney General, Enterprise Community Partners Inc. and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) have made funding available across New York state for newly formed land banks. Enterprise is now dedicating additional funding to support land banks, with funds coming from a bank settlement negotiated by the office of the attorney general. Enterprise selected the Niagara Orleans Regional Land Improvement Corp. (NORLIC) as a recipient of a grant in the amount of $500,000.
