The Town of Wheatfield Town Board meeting opened Monday with a presentation by builder Fred Mallone and Barton & Loguidice engineer Matt Zarbo, on a development Mallone has invested himself to build in Wheatfield.

Nine banners have been put up along Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield, and one more at the Town Hall campus to welcome visitors, residents and commuters to the town. The idea is to make citizens proud to be a part of the town, and put an earworm into everyone else's brain about this place.

Super Bowl is kind of a big deal at our house. My husband, Fred, has been hosting a Super Bowl party that predates our marriage. The "Caso Party" is now in its 33rd year. I try to mix in some new dishes along with the obligatory pizza and wings, and this year it's going to be homemade potato skins (which are much more cost-effective for folks on a budget.)

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center raised over $275,000 at its annual fundraiser, The Premier, held Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Resort. This year's event was co-chaired by doctors Rajinder Bajwa and Simmanjeet Mangat and Dr. Marnie LaVigne and Robert Fohl, and once again hosted a sold-out crowd of 960 people.

Tuesday night, the Lewiston-Porter Lancers faced the Niagara Falls Wolverines on the hardwood without their star sophomore Roddy Gayle.
Gayle was on the bench for the Lancers' battle, as he nursed an injury. And while most people counted L-P out in his absence, the Lancers gave the Wolverines everything they had.
Despite the efforts, the Wolverines prevailed, 71-67, behind big nights from Taylor Sanders and Bryce Smith.

The company sold 5,977 units, totaling $1.169 billion in sales volume in Erie and Niagara counties combined. Buffalo was a hub of activity for minority equality and advancement. It was a terminal on the Underground Railroad and a birthplace of what became the NAACP.
