Cancer Services Program of Erie County plans online series for cancer prevention

The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and its Cancer Services Program will present three cancer prevention webinars. Each 6 p.m. 40-minute presentation will have a specific focus, starting with breast cancer Aug. 31, followed by colorectal cancer on Sept. 28 and cervical cancer on Jan. 10, 2021.

At 2:36 a.m. Monday, Niagara County Sheriff's Office Deputy Darryl Kroening was patrolling Niagara Falls Boulevard when he noticed a new Chevrolet Silverado at David Chevrolet, 10225 Niagara Falls Blvd., with stone blocks underneath an axle. After entering lot, Kroening observed a subject running westbound through the lot.
Cuomo: More than $2.3 million awarded through 'New York Forward' loan fund

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced more than $2.3 million has been awarded to support 61 businesses and residential landlords with COVID-19-related costs and expenses through the "New York Forward" loan fund. Of the 61 loans, 54 were provided to minority- and women-owned businesses; 10 loans were provided to residential landlords; two loans were awarded to veteran-owned businesses; and one loan supported a nonprofit organization.

On Monday, Niagara Falls Police Department was alerted of two felony warrants issued from the Pennsylvania State Police for 31-year-old Richard Reiss and 34-year-old Dewayne Shields. Warrant officers located a red, compact, four-door sedan with Pennsylvania plates heading southbound on John B. Daly Boulevard.
NYS Tax Department: 57% increase in use of Free File program

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced the Free File program experienced a 57% increase in use this tax filing season. Over a quarter-million taxpayers took advantage of the free tax preparation and filing software available through the Tax Department website, saving New Yorkers more than an estimated $51 million in tax preparer and tax software expenses.
