The following update was posted on the Town of Niagara Facebook page on July 28.
“When this pandemic began, Town Supervisor Lee Wallace, Steve Broderick (Lewiston supervisor), Don MacSwan (Wheatfield supervisor), Bob Restaino (Niagara Falls mayor) and Art Pappas (North Tonawanda mayor) decided that when they called their work force back, reopened the town hall, community centers, etc. that they would try to do this in a similar fashion in all towns and cities listed above.
“Initially, they had teleconferences weekly to discuss updates and their plans for moving forward so that they were all on the same page as this pandemic progressed. They have had an updated conversation and Lewiston and Wheatfield are not even considering opening their respective community centers until September. Niagara Falls and NT said maybe by mid-August but nothing is etched in stone yet. We all have to consider many factors before reopening, and my number one concern, the health, safety and welfare of our residents.
“Due to this the Senior Center will not be opening on August 4th.”
