Niagara Hospice recently held a remembrance celebration event at the Transit Drive-In in Lockport. Nearly 200 Niagara County family members attended to honor loved ones who died under hospice care during the past year.

Hulu announced that it has ordered the epic adventure series "Washington Black" straight to series. Three-time Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown will star in the nine-episode limited series, which is being produced by 20th Television. Selwyn Seyfu Hinds ("Twilight Zone," "Strange Adventures") is adapting Esi Edugyan's international bestselling novel and will executive produce with The Gotham Group and Brown's Indian Meadows Productions.

Flynn reminds residents his office is a resource for victims of domestic violence - and will continue to prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law. Shortly before 1 a.m. on Oct. 2, Niagara Falls Police Department responded to 1509 18th St., for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 58-year-old male resident of Niagara Falls suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gov. Two weekends ago, a handful of volunteers joined the crews from Painters Plus to help out this year's winner of Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Paint Exteriors), an annual citywide contest that offers a free exterior home paint job to homeowners in need. Painter's Plus owner Jesse Gooch said this year's Project H.O.P.E., now in its 11th year, was perhaps its most unique yet.
