Team Alice, an initiative of the University at Buffalo's Center for Successful Aging, has been awarded a $60,000 grant from the U.S. Deprescribing Research Network (USDeN) to evaluate an educational video designed to encourage patient/caregiver-initiated deprescribing conversations with doctors and to evaluate its impact on medication use.
Erie County Parks, partners plan improvements to Isle View Park

AAA: Classroom defensive driving classes to resume

Heart, Love & Soul opens one-stop services center for homeless

On Wednesday, local officials were on hand as Heart, Love & Soul food pantry cut the ribbon on the newly constructed Sr. Beth Brosmer Center. The center will house its new Daybreak program - a collaboratively designed one-stop program involving more than 30 partner agencies. The organization says the Daybreak program will increase access to services and offer additional support for people experiencing homelessness.

Earlier this week, New York state's movie theater industry breathed a collective sigh of relief as Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced theaters across the state (except for NYC) could finally begin to reopen. Per state safety guidelines, theaters can only maintain a 25% capacity; with no more than 50 people in front of each movie screen.

The Gov. Alfred E. Smith State Office Building, home to the state Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, also has been illuminated all week for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Niagara Falls police apprehend car thieves after chase

At approximately 1:26 p.m. Wednesday, Niagara Falls Police Department officers responded to the City Market at 18th Street and Pine Avenue regarding an alleged stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle parked in the lot with two males inside. They approached the car on foot in an attempt to make contact with the occupants. In an effort to escape, the driver of the allegedly stolen vehicle then began ramming the police cars parked in front.
