The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees approved a motion Monday allowing Mayor Terry Collesano to sign a lease with the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce to relocate the tourism and marketing agency into the Lewiston Welcome Center in Academy Park. The lease takes effect on Jan. 1, 2013, and runs until Dec. 31, 2017.

Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard has announced the arrest and arraignment of a Grand Island man who detectives say terrorized an elderly Grand Island woman on East River Road.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, Grand Island Fire Co. firefighters responded to a call of smoke in a residence, which was discovered by the Love Road occupant who had returned home from a shopping trip.

New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey has announced that 12 communities across the state will receive grants totaling $141,515 to support local historic preservation activities. The grants, funded from New York's share of the federal Historic Preservation Fund, are targeted to assist certified local governments - municipalities that have enrolled in a local-state-federal partnership to identify and protect historic properties.
