Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh said registration is now open for the 20th annual Technology & Cybersecurity Forum, to be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Niagara Falls Convention Center, 101 Old Falls St. Organizers said the event attracts over 350 attendees each year.

On Sept. 1, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC advisory committee on immunization practices' (ACIP) recommendations for use of updated coronavirus boosters from Pfizer-BioNTech for people ages 12 years and older, and from Moderna for people ages 18 years and older.

Village of Lewiston Board votes to lower speed limit; no start date set

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston on Tuesday voted unanimously to amend local law 3-2022 and lower the municipal speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph. They sought to take advantage of legislation signed last month by Gov. Kathy Hochul (A.1007-A/S.2021-A) permitting municipalities to implement such a change.

The City of Buffalo's indoor swimming pools will return to their pre-summer hours, starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, following a summer of free, extended hours. The city's Cazenovia Park and Lovejoy pools were open on weekends, and expanded weekday schedules from July 1 through Labor Day in response to the extreme shortage of certified lifeguards, which forced Buffalo's outdoor swimming and wading pools to remain closed this summer.
