Lewiston-Porter High school announced the opening of “Chicago – Teen Edition!”
Show dates and times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17. There is also a matinee show at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18.
A press release noted, “ ‘Chicago’ originally premiered in 1975 and contains extraordinary music and songs reminiscent of the jazz age. Aspiring actress Roxie Hart and fading vaudeville star Velma Kelly each face trial for murder during the decadent roaring 1920s. The two women compete for the services of Billy Flynn, a lawyer of dubious character, who promises to make them media celebrities and win them acquittals.”
The production involves approximately 55 students in the cast, stage crew and pit orchestra, “who have been working hard since rehearsals began this past November.”
Tickets can be reserved ahead of time by calling the school's main office at 716-286-7261, or purchase tickets at the show.
