Artpark marked its 50th anniversary in 2024 with spectacular concerts, impactful community programs, stunning visual art exhibits and unique special events that celebrated Artpark's rich history. To successfully conclude the anniversary year, Artpark's board of directors has issued a community challenge: If Artpark raises $50,000 in the final 50 days of its 50th year, the board of directors will match contributions dollar for dollar.

Niagara University observed Veterans Day with a special celebration in honor of the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., former president of Niagara University and founder of its veteran program, and Rev. Lt. Thomas M. Conway, a Navy chaplain and Niagara University alumnus who received the Navy Cross for giving his life to bring spirituality and peace to the crew of the USS Indianapolis.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed a legislative package in appreciation of Veterans Day to honor the service and sacrifice of New York's veterans. The legislation enacted Monday includes the renaming of bridges and highways across the state in honor of fallen heroes, as well as measures enhancing access to veterans benefits, "reflecting New York's unwavering commitment to honoring and supporting veterans and their families."

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced Timothy A. Austin, 37, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class "B" violent felony). The defendant pleaded guilty, as charged, to the sole count in the indictment.

The 2025 budget passed with a minimal tax increase $3 per thousand to homeowners and $35 per thousand to businesses.
