The Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club presented a check in the amount of $3,400 to the Mount St. Mary's Foundation, from proceeds from the club's 2010 "Art of Ribs" Festival held at Academy Park. The funds will go to the enhancement of the maternity department at Mount St. Mary's.

The Village of Lewiston received new drawings Tuesday from the principals behind the Frontier House on Center Street. Attorney John Bartolomei, E.I. Mount St. Mary's Hospital will present a series of programs in July as part of its health education program and event series.
On Monday, July 25, "Grandparents in Waiting" will be presented by Mary Ruth Baumler, RN, at 7 p.m. in Room 249. The program is designed for grandparents to discuss changes in maternal and child care, the changing role of grandparents, diaper care, day care and child safety. Register by calling 298-2145.
On Thursday, July 28, "Let's Celebrate Big Brothers/Big Sister" will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Room 249. Pre-registration required; call 298-2385.
Several support groups will also meet at Mount St. Mary's during the month including caregivers/Hospice (July 7), fibromyalgia (July 9), Alzheimer's (July 12), parent's grief (July 13), diabetes (July 19), "Us Too" prostate cancer support group (July 21), and breast cancer (July 26).

The chairmen of the annual Kiwanis clambake recently presented a check to the Mount St. Mary's Foundation from the proceeds generated at the annual event, which was sponsored by Modern Corporation. The donation is given in memory of the late Steve Washuta, the founder of Modern, and the funds will be used at the Steve Washuta Cardiac Center at Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
