Ed Hutton, assistant professor of finance, was presented with the 2014 Excellence in Teaching Award, while Stefanie Wichhart, Ph.D., associate professor history, received the Innovation in Teaching Award.

New York State Sen. Mark Grisanti recently named Jason Jaskula as "Veteran of the Month."
A resident of the Town of Hamburg who served in the Army with the 165th MP Company and later with Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Knox, Jaskula is the eighth recipient of the monthly honor presented by Grisanti.
"I am pleased to recognize Sgt. Maj. Jaskula for his passion not only for serving our country, but for supporting other military veterans," said Grisanti, a member of the State Senate's veterans, homeland security and military affairs committees. "His tour and military career is filled with various awards and honors, and his work with the Buffalo City Court veterans program and the Department of Veterans Affairs location in Buffalo is to be commended."

During the first half of 2014, the energy-efficiency projects completed by the New York Power Authority at public facilities in various parts of New York will result in a savings to taxpayers of $4 million annually.
Improving energy-efficiency and reducing demand on the electric power grid are critical elements to achieving goals championed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to create a more resilient and flexible power grid, lower the state's carbon footprint and promote a cleaner and healthier environment for all New Yorkers.
The NYPA-completed energy-efficiency projects, from January through June of this year, were undertaken at 100 state and municipal facilities.
