The board of trustees of the Miss America Organization announced Tuesday groundbreaking changes for The 2019 Miss America Competition, effective this September, by declaring the 51 women representing their home states and the District of Columbia will no longer be judged on outward physical appearance.

After a two-year hiatus, the Niagara Power pulled off an 8-3 win against the Genesee Rapids at their home opener on Saturday, June 2. Starting pitcher Conrad Voss had seven strikeouts during the game, which remained tied 1-1 from the top of the third inning until the bottom of the sixth. That's when the Power scored five runs and finished off the victory.

As reported in last week's Sentinel, delays in construction of a new plaza on Center Street in Lewiston led the Zoning Board of Appeals to rule previously granted variances had expired. The ZBA's unanimous opinion is that construction should've begun on the project within one year of the granting of eight village code modifications - by late July 2017.
