The Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center and the Buffalo History Museum will present "The Underground Railroad: Then & Now" at 6 p.m. Wed., Oct. 10, at the latter and then at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the former. The event is free to attend.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will conduct a flu shot clinic for adults 18 and older from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. The clinic will be held on the first floor of the Golisano Center for Community Health, 533 10th St. Both quadrivalent and high dose influenza vaccines will be available along with two types of pneumonia vaccine.

Jacobs delivers $300,000 for Kenmore sewer improvements

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs announced he has secured $300,000 in the current state budget to support much-needed improvements to the Village of Kenmore's aging sewer system. The money will support the utilization of a trenchless pipe rehabilitation system that will enable the village to upgrade its sewers without opening up residential streets.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced funding for two groundbreaking programs aimed at building a smarter, more responsive power system across the state. The initiatives, funded by the New York Power Authority at a total of $173 million, will help NYPA to collect data more quickly and accurately, and allow for a faster response time to outages and other power grid issues. His camp said these modernizations will ultimately enable a more reliable and resilient power system in New York.
