Village of Lewiston working to acquire Frontier House

News broke Sunday that the Village of Lewiston created a petition seeking support for restoration of the historic Frontier House. Throughout this week, residents visiting the mayor's office in the Red Brick Municipal Building have been encouraged to sign the document. To date, more than 500 have obliged. In doing so, they asked one question: What's going on with the Frontier House?

Dr. Joshua Smith of Serene Gardens on Grand Island Boulevard is hoping the Grand Island Garden Tour will open some horizons when it debuts July 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"It's the first time Grand Island's been a part of the national garden tour," Smith said. "It's all free for everyone to join as well as free for everyone to visit the tour, visit the houses."

'Field of Miracles' to visit Niagara Falls this August

"So many families are struggling with hopelessness and despair," stated Mike Chorey, a native to Grand Island who is a pastor at Cross River Church in Niagara Falls. Chorey was speaking about the impetus for a Gospel crusade, the "Field of Miracles: The Return," which will be coming to Sal Maglie Stadium for three days in August.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced they will hold their annual summer development camp from July 10-12 at First Niagara Center. This will mark the second year in a row that the ice will be installed during the summer and the development camp will be held at the home of the Sabres. Camp will conclude with "Sabres Summer Fan Fest," a day of hockey-themed entertainment on Buffalo's waterfront, on July 12, beginning at 3 p.m.

SPCA starts fund for Jonah

Sunday morning, the Niagara County SPCA met officers from Niagara Falls Police Department and removed three dogs from a residence on 12th Street in Niagara Falls. The dogs, male and female adults and a male puppy, were rushed to the Niagara County SPCA for immediate medical attention.
