Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue's monthly volunteer meeting, which is open to the public, will take place from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston. Discussion topics will include volunteer opportunities to work hands-on with the animals at Heart of Niagara adoption events in July and August at Grandpaws Pet Emporium, Blackwinds Pet Supplies, The Run for Rover/Pet Emergency Fund and The Lewiston Art Festival.

Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue is a non-profit companion animal rescue based in Niagara County. Heart of Niagara's mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. The organization's goal is to provide these rescued animals with shelter, food and medical care until a loving adoptive family can be found.

The rescue is always in needs of the following donated items: Purina Puppy Chow and Dog Chow, large and medium kennels/crates, and blankets. Heart of Niagara's complete "wish list" of needed items is available on its website. If you would like to donate any of these items, or if you are able to foster an animal, call 716-345-7129 or just bring items to any scheduled Heart of Niagara meeting.
