Niagara County pizzerias called to enter 2nd annual 'Festival of Slice'

Calling all Niagara County pizzerias: Registration is now open for the second annual Festival of Slice pizza celebration, taking place from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls. It is taking place as part of the city's third annual Jingle Falls USA festivities, a collaborative holiday celebration in downtown Niagara Falls.

The family of the late Robert O. Steinjan Sr. recently presented a check for $7,750 to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in support of the medical center's cardiac and stroke care unit. The gift represents proceeds from the fourth annual Robert O. Steinjan Sr. Memorial Car Show, held this summer at Hoover's Dairy Store in Sanborn.

General Motors Co. on Tuesday confirmed its Tonawanda engine plant will build the company's next-generation 6.2L small-block V-8 engine that will power the all-new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Production of the Corvette Stingray begins at GM's Bowling Green, Kentucky, assembly plant in late 2019.

The USA Niagara Development Corp. board of directors (USAN) met Wednesday and voted to provide NFNY Hotel Management LLC with a $1 million grant for upgrades it made to transform the former Days Inn hotel on Main Street in Niagara Falls into a Wyndham Garden Inn hotel, adding new rooms, remodeling existing rooms and upgrading hotel amenities.
