The Como Deli on Center Street reopened to customers on Monday. The Village of Lewiston eatery had been closed since early spring, when "New York State on PAUSE" was enacted to slow the coronavirus spread.

As it looks toward the fall and budget preparation time, the Town of Lewiston received some good news from the Dresher & Malecki audit team with regard to the town's 2019 audit.
Lewiston-Porter submits two options on reopening

Lewiston-Porter has submitted its reopening plan to the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The reopening plan provides for in-person instruction, remote learning, and a hybrid of the two approaches as required by NYSED. Superintendent Paul Casseri shared our reopening plan with the school community this week.
Town of Lewiston: EnSol plan flares up at session

At issue here is concern over a site plan application submitted by Niagara Properties - EnSol Inc. - of Niagara Falls. The company has been working with the town's Planning Board and Environmental Commission over past months and wishes to create a soil recycling center and composting facility on some 10 acres of land it owns on the north side of the 1100 block of Pletcher Road.
Kiwanis Club donates to Magdalene Project as part of service project

The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston donated 50 backpacks (full of school supplies), and other personal items, to the Magdalene Project of Niagara Falls this past week. The donation is part of the Kiwanis New York District's First Lady's Project for 2019-20, which is to help homeless or less-fortunate students in local communities.
Historical Association of Lewiston nixes Tour of Homes, but adds fundraising opportunities

Over the last 15 years, the major fundraiser for the Historical Association of Lewiston has been the annual Tour of Homes run concurrently with the Lewiston Christmas Walk in December. This year, that tradition regrettably is suspended.

Lewiston Dance Center holds ribbon & awards ceremony

Lewiston Dance recently held a ribbon and award ceremony for its dancers. Cars pulled through the parking lot and, with music playing, each dancer got out of the car in full costume. The teachers cheered them on as they made their way to the red carpet to receive their ribbons or awards and get their photo taken.

The New York Power Authority and Siemens Energy Inc. announced a new collaboration to develop an industrial cybersecurity Center of Excellence. The first-of-its-kind industrial cybersecurity monitoring, research and innovation center will focus on detecting and defending against cyberattacks on critical infrastructure owned and operated by NYPA, the largest state-owned electric utility in the nation.
Niagara University launches augmented reality network to increase student safety

Niagara University has taken another step in ensuring the safety of students, faculty and staff when they return to campus for the fall semester. The university has launched the NUAR network, which uses augmented reality to provide real-time physical distancing information through a unique smartphone app.

Niagara County to begin bridge replacement in Town of Porter

Niagara County Legislator Irene Myers said the Niagara County Department of Public Works will begin work to replace the Porter Center Road Bridge over 6 Mile Creek in the Town of Porter next week. The bridge, located just south of Braley Road, will be closed starting Friday, July 31.

Lewiston Lions donate to Lewiston Police Department

The Lewiston Lions were able to donate 50 KN95 masks to the Lewiston Police Department to supplement its mandatory safety precautions for the officers. The KN95 masks were acquired through a state Lions Club International disaster relief grant.
