The New York State Department of Transportation announced bridge rehabilitation work is scheduled to begin next week on the Niagara Scenic Parkway in the Town of Porter. As a result, traffic restrictions will occur.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 22, the Niagara Scenic Parkway, from Fort Niagara State Park to Route 18, will be closed. Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour using Route 93 and Route 18. This work is expected to last through fall 2019.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time. They’re also reminded fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
