Niagara County Manager Rick Updegrove today announced that all Niagara County office buildings and offices will be closed Monday, April 8, for the solar eclipse, with the exception of the Board of Elections. Some essential employees will still be required to report.

Jury finds Buffalo man guilty of manslaughter for fatally stabbing woman inside her apartment

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced a jury has found 46-year-old Otis L. Johnson Jr. of Buffalo guilty of one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class "B" violent felony). Jurors rendered their decision late yesterday afternoon after less than two hours of deliberation following a five-day trial, convicting the defendant of the only count in the indictment against him.

This year's participants will climb 594 steps, up 32 flights, to raise awareness and more than $250,000 to support research, advocacy and education for those with lung diseases and lung cancer.
